High-End Residential Interior Design | East London

In March 2024, Trifle Home was invited by a former workplace-design client to advise on a colour palette for her private residence. That initial consultation quickly evolved into our largest residential interior design project to date.

The property, a former Victorian East End pub, had been our client’s home for nearly 25 years. Working closely with ZRP Architects and Wrights Construction, we undertook a sensitive yet ambitious programme to repair, restore and reimagine the building as a richly layered contemporary family home. Our client’s fearless use of colour and eclectic, traditional style gave us licence to push boundaries, resulting in a confident, characterful 3,500 sq ft home that celebrates individuality and craftsmanship.

Throughout the house, bespoke joinery was designed to provide generous storage and highly tailored solutions for our client’s lifestyle and collections. A custom-designed kitchen with banquette seating forms the heart of the home, balancing practicality with layered, eclectic detailing.

The open-plan living and dining space is intentionally bold. Anchored by a gloss pink ceiling and House of Hackney curtains, the room brings together contemporary icons, including the Camaleonda sofa, with carefully sourced vintage pieces. A bespoke circular dining table in marble and turned wood sits alongside colourful internal stained-glass windows, creating a space that confidently embraces maximalism while remaining composed.

Upstairs, the layout was reconfigured to create a principal bedroom suite with dressing room, alongside guest accommodation, a home study and family bathrooms. Externally, the garden was replanted and a garden writing cabin added, completing a deeply personal and expressive home designed for contemporary living.

“My expectations were very high for my home refurbishment. What you and your teams have created has surpassed them. It’s so clear how much love, care, passion, talent and artistry have gone into this renovation. I am deeply grateful and cannot wait to live in my home again.

Thank you all truly.”

– Private Client

Below ground, the previously damp cellar was excavated and transformed into a sequence of generous, light-filled rooms. These include a guest suite with garden access, a beautifully detailed utility and laundry room, a cinematic lounge, and a calm spa and meditation space designed for rest and retreat.
