Our Sustainability Pillars

Our aims align with 7 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Trifle* Sustainability Pillars

Our sustainability goals at Trifle* fall into three ambitions:

  • Social – a commitment to Human Rights through rigorous anti-Modern Slavery practices.

  • Environmental – a focus on sustainability and circularity through our design and our purchasing

  • Governance – a commitment to being the most ethical business we can through education and rule setting both within and outside our business.

We commit to using our ability to influence for the good of the planet and the people who live on it.

What this means today

Reuse and upcycling – we commit to putting less new product into the world by making vintage, second hand and existing client pieces part of our designs.

When we design bespoke items, we consider every part of the design from source material through manufacture and transportation.

We work with as many UK based manufacturers as possible and rarely purchase from outside Europe to reduce freight distances.

As a city-based company we only use public transportation and cycling unless necessary. We encourage train travel and avoid air travel as much as possible.

What this means tomorrow

We are undertaking research with all our suppliers about their sustainability approach as outlined by our pillars. This takes time – we work with a lot of people.

We intend to publish our first Impact Statement after our year end in June 2023.

We are undertaking research to discover the best way to reduce carbon to net-zero within 5 years.

Supply Chain Ethics Statement

At Trifle* we fully endorse a fair procurement chain free from harm. We make it our priority to interrogate our suppliers of furniture, lighting and flooring to ensure that their supply chains meet our standards as well as societal and governmental expectations.
