The trifle* team have been busy with a new collaboration - this time with celebrated East London rug dealer FLOOR_STORY. The result is a range of new rugs under the name COLOUR_STORIES. The range is made of delicately graduated colours resulting in six beautiful fades - each inspired by the nature around us, even in the big city.

That inspiration continues in the naming of the rugs where the colours really start to make sense - from the light to cobalt blues of London Fields Lido to the grassy and sandy tones of Towpath - this is a rug range that speaks of the nature of the trifle* studio's East London home.

Emma Morley, founder and director, trifle*, explains more:

“We’ve collaborated with FLOOR_STORY on several commercial interior projects and when they approached us to operate as colour consultant on a new collection, we jumped at the chance. trifle’s mission is to make work life better and one of the ways we do this is through using colour. Humans innately crave to be near nature, even in the city. Bringing the positivity of the outdoors into work spaces through anchor colours inspired by the natural world, and using a subtle brand palette, our interiors support the well-being and productivity of staff.

“For COLOUR_STORIES, we loved the idea that a feature rug inspired by nature could bring the outdoors in, working as a dramatic addition to a core scheme in homes and businesses. From our east London studio’s roof terrace, we’ve fantastic views across the city and explored how the skies change through the seasons. These are the colours that inspire us, and we want to bring them in to our workspace designs; nature energises and it heals.”

Crafted from pure new wool and/or silk each COLOUR_STORIES design is made in India, using up to 120 colours to achieve a shift in tone that avoids tell-tale striping. Available in standard sizes of 160cm x 230cm, 200cm x 300cm and 250cm x 350cm or to order in bespoke sizes, from £410 per square metre.

The rugs will be launched by FLOOR_STORY at theLondon Design Fair, Old Truman Breweryfrom Thursday 20th September.
