Curating FLOOR_STORY x Sancal for London Design Festival and Shoreditch Design Week

Well, it's done. London Design Festival has finished. It was a wild rush of excitement! There was so much to see; check out our top favourites here.
We were so busy, we very nearly forgot to tout our own horn by chatting about our own contribution to the festivities - our curation of the FLOOR_STORY showroom to celebrate 'Configurations' in partnership with Sancal! Typical designers getting stuck into the design and completely forgetting to actually talk about it - DOH!
We were absolutely delighted when both FLOOR_STORY and Sancal asked us to lend a hand, we love both of these brands for their commitment to beautiful and interesting design.
For London Design Festival and Shoreditch Design Week 2026, FLOOR_STORY released five new rug collaborations from a collaboration with five different designers. Each collaborator brought their own creative instincts to rug-making, resulting in a wide range of techniques, scales, colours, and finishes. The rug designers were Coco Lom, Les Keepers, Lakwena, POOR Collective and House of Quinn each translated their creative world into the language of rug-making.
Sancal, being the lovely people they are, offered to provide the furniture to help create room sets, including Palma, the new collection by Marc Morro never seen in London before.
Alongside Palma, Sancal offered to provide some of their most recognised pieces, including the Vesta Sofa and Bold Coffee Tables by Studiopepe, Link sofa by Raw Color, the Remnant Armchair by Note Design Studio, Planta by Yonoh, the Pion Table by Ionna Vautrin, Faces Side Tables by Nathan Yong, Suricata table by Inma Bermúdez Studio and the Roll Chair by MUT Design.
With so many amazing but different designs to bring together, it looked like quite the challenge on paper! But when we stepped back, we realised the geometric shapes in the rugs and furniture were already speaking to each other. We just needed to keep that conversation going. Simple pillars echoed those shapes, while curtains and a palette picked out from the pieces helped tie the room sets together. It all clicked into place: plenty of personality, a shared language of shape and colour, and room for each design to do its thing.
It was a pleasure to bring together internationally acclaimed designers, Sancal's distinctive furniture and FLOOR_STORY's contemporary rugs, through colour, texture and form. It was truly a celebration of bold ideas, craftsmanship and a playful approach to contemporary design.
A big thank you to FLOOR_STORY and Sancal for inviting us to get stuck in. We’re off to catch our breath, but already curious to see what next year has in store for us!
