For their first ever London showroom, family-run Swedish furniture brand Johanson asked us to bring a little Trifle* magic to their new space—just in time for Clerkenwell Design Week 2024.

Trifle* was appointed to redesign and refurbish the Paul Mellon Centre, a renowned research institute and educational charity dedicated to the study of British art and architecture. The Centre occupies two combined Grade I listed Georgian terraces, rich in original architectural features.

An office refurbishment within a grade II listed building was a joyful challenge for us at trifle*. We celebrated the beauty of the building with colour, new furniture and home-like comforts whilst adding dynamic work settings for this creative business.
The extension of this Victorian end of terrace in Walthamstow was in the planning, dreaming and discussion stage for many years as it was to be undertaken with neighbours; The decision was made collectively by both families to undertake the projects at the same time thus being more likely to get planning approval in the conservation zone as well as some reduced costs on Build works and the party wall being used to its maximum.
The fifth office Trifle* have designed for Moo.com. This time, they wanted to reinvent the way that they worked post-covid, to embrace a more flexible approach. The project involved adaption of a huge communal area and a transformation of an existing dark office space to create their new home.
